Permits and Regulations
Permits, regulations and insurance requirements are not uniform across the county; they vary by municipality. You may download a copy of the "Guide to Filming in Westchester" or call the Film Office at (914) 995-8500 to get up-to-date information and to have a copy of the guide mailed to you. The guide is updated regularly and contains all municipal filming policies.
We do require the completion and submission of our online Letter of Intent when you are ready to explore location options.
Filming on county-owned properties requires a permit and location fee payment by check 48 hours prior to the shoot date. Both the fees for the location and terms of the permit are coordinated through the Film Office and are tailored to fit the needs and budget of each production.
Every project must submit an insurance certificate naming The County of Westchester as "Additional Insured and Certificate Holder" at 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601. The total aggregate insurance amount varies depending on your project.
- For still photography, the total aggregate insurance amount is a minimum of one million dollars.
- For television commercials, the total aggregate amount is two million dollars.
- For a feature film or television series, the total aggregate amount is a minimum of five million dollars.
Before securing permits and finalizing insurance, we suggest you contact the Film Office at (914) 995-8500.
