Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices has been famous for 90 years! How we became famous is a story that’s been passed down for generations through our family… In 1928, our grandfather, Ralph Silvestro, came to the United States from Italy when he was a young man. He began making what would turn out to be his famous Italian Ices and sold them throughout Staten Island, opening his first retail location on Port Richmond Ave. in 1949. His two daughters, Lucile and Elise, took over the family business in 1966, creating new flavors, always using the finest ingredients available in order to maintain Grandpa’s high standards.
