Clay Art Center

Clay Art Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, creativity, and community engagement through clay by providing an inclusive space for learning, studio practice, exhibitions, personal growth and professional development in ceramic arts. Founded almost 70 years ago by Katherine Choy and Henry Okamoto, Clay Art Center provides opportunities for adults and youth to take pottery and sculpture classes, attend exhibitions, rent artist studios, and be a part of a vibrant community.

Faraway Farm Alpacas

High on a hilltop in the historic Hudson Valley, Faraway Farm is home to award-winning alpacas prized for their soft, colorful fleece. The farm offers educational farm tours, unique private events, a variety of workshops, and a bucolic photo shoot location. During farm tours visitors meet our alpacas, Icelandic Horses and friendly donkey, learning about their care, natural history, uses and characteristics. The farm store, located inside a renovated barn, offers homegrown yarns and beautiful handmade alpaca garments, many made by local artisans.

Day Two

Westchester's Cultural Heritage

Drive 26 minutes, 18 mi/28.9 km, from Mount Kisco to Tarrytown.

 

Lyndhurst Mansion

Lyndhurst offers guided tours of the mansion and grounds year-round for groups of ten or more of all ages. Tours include the Classic Mansion Tour which is perfect for first-time visitors. This one-hour guided tour visits two floors of the mansion and requires the ability to navigate stairs and a short, uphill walk. A more comprehensive one-and-a-half-hour tour encompassing all six floors of the mansion, from the observation tower to the basement kitchen is an alternative for those capable of climbing five flights of stairs and is available upon request. Garden Clubs and outdoor adventure groups may choose Landscape tours.

Glenview Historic Home at Hudson River Museum

Glenview, an 1877 house on the National Register of Historic Places, was designed by architect Charles W. Clinton and is located on the grounds of the Hudson River Museum. The home was featured in Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of HBO’s The Gilded Age, the popular Emmy Award-winning series from Julian Fellowes, creator of Downton Abbey. The Hudson River Museum offers engaging experiences for every age and interest with a growing collection of American art; exhibitions ranging from notable 19th-century paintings to contemporary art installations, a state-of-the-art planetarium, environmental teaching gallery and outdoor amphitheater. Standard museum hours are Wednesday through Friday from 12pm-5pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 11am-5pm.

Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site

Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site in downtown Yonkers, NY dates back to the 1680s and today features award-winning state-of-the-art exhibits on two floors showcasing the broader history of colonial New York by exploring Indigenous, African, and European cultures. A perfect introduction to NY history. Standard museum hours are Wednesday through Friday from 12pm-5pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 11am-5pm.
