Hudson Hills Golf Course

Details

Eighteen holes, par 72, 6,800 yards. Pro shop, restaurant, showers, locker rooms.

  • Once on course, golfers are greeted by “country club” conditions from the opening hole through the home 18th with its breathtaking panoramic views of Hudson River Valley.

  • The signatures to Hudson Hills are its extraordinary length from tee to green and prevailing winds that can invoke a one- to three-club difference. From the championship markers, Hudson Hills can be stretched close to 7,000 yards. For the mere mortals Hudson Hills has something for all levels of play: more than 6,300 yards from the green markers, over 5,700 yards from the blue markers and more than 5,100 yards from the gold markers.

  • Head professional Matthew Belizze built a golf studio near the clubhouse where he’s able to give lessons year-round. It’s complete with a putting green and hitting area with state-of-the-art foresight launch monitor to help with lessons and club fitting.

Hudson Hills is also the home of the historical, Rising Sun Golf & Country Club, established in 1936, which was a historic black-owned golf destination in the Tri-State Area, offering an 18-hole course and luxurious amenities rivaling its white-owned counterparts. Built on the former Sunset Hills Golf Course, founded in 1926 by George W. Hampton, it symbolized community pride and resilience. Economic challenges from the Great Depression forced Hampton to sell the property to the Rising Sun Golf Holding Group, a collective of black businessmen. Despite their determination, financial struggles led to its closure in 1938. Efforts to revive it as the Beaumont Golf and Country Club also failed and by 1939, the club was under white ownership. The property changed hands multiple times, closing in 1982. In 2004, IBM sold the land to Westchester County, leading to the creation of Hudson Hills Golf Course, preserving the legacy of this remarkable site and the relentless spirit of those who sought to make their mark.
