Playland Amusement Park

Details
Playland’s famed “Dragon” roller coaster has towered over this Art Deco landmark since its 1928 opening, and the heart-stopping dive from the top still thrills visitors. It’s just one of many classic amusement park treasures at this National Historic Landmark, including the “Derby Racer” (there are only two originals left in the U.S.) with “steeds” that “gallop a challenging steeped turntable at 15 miles per hour. Take the plunge on the water-soaked log flume, treat the little ones to the largest Kiddyland in the area, glide around the indoor ice rink, or take a break at the lakeside picnic area and sandy beach. Before planning your visit, look out for regular reduced-admissions events, such as First Responders Day and Customer Appreciation Day.
