Romantic Winter Retreat

Whether your ideal day is exploring a museum or venturing through the woods, we've got the perfect way for you to spend some time with that special someone.

Be Immersed in Culture & the Arts

Westchester is the perfect place to be immersed in the arts. Begin with a visit to Hudson River Museum to experience a dynamic collection of American art, tour Glenview, an 1877 Gilded Age house on the National Register of Historic Places, and explore the cosmos in the state-of-the-art Planetarium.

Take a short drive to Irvington for lunch at Red Hat on the River. Housed in a century-old converted factory, this bistro serves up delicious fare with a side of Hudson River views and plenty of atmosphere.

Delve into the local art scene, and do a little shopping, for fine art, crafts, wearable art and vintage jewelry throughout seven studios at Peekskill's Flat Iron Gallery. Then, stop on the first floor of the building to enjoy made-to-order crepes, mouthwatering pastries and freshly roasted specialty coffee at Peekskill Coffee House

Bundle up for an outdoor exploration along Peekskill's waterfront to view works on the Sculpture Trail. The full trail features 28 pieces ranging from paintings and murals to sculptures and tile work. Visiting on a Saturday? Stop at the nearby Hudson Valley MOCA to view the rotating exhibits in the 12,000 sq.ft. space

Warm up with an savory meal at 3 Westerly Bar & Grill, housed within a distinctive free-standing lighthouse that features Modern American Cuisine with a pronounced seafood emphasis.

Wrap up the evening by enjoying one of the many films about relationships and love at Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, or catch a performance at the Jazz Forum Club in Tarrytown, featuring internationally-renowned musicians to emerging artists, and styles from Latin to Swing and Contemporary Jazz.

Outdoor Adventurers

Outdoor enthusiasts - pack your gear and for a day of adventure and stunning scenery. Start the day by exploring the Temple of Love at Untermyer Park & Gardens in Yonkers. Perched above cascading waterfalls and stone outcroppings, the Temple of Love was created by Carlo Devite, a Genoese stone mason, and is one of the iconic landmarks at this 43-acre public garden.

Next, head for lunch at Billy & Pete's in Larchmont for a fresh take on classic foods like burgers and pizza. There before 1:00pm on Saturday? Don't forget to snag a few Side Door Donuts in flavors like maple bacon and fluffernutter, for a mid-afternoon snack.

Pack snowshoes and ice skates and travel to Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem. Hike or snowshoe miles of trails meandering through the hardwood forest. Or, weather and conditions permitting, enjoy the crisp air while gliding around the pond on ice skates (call ahead to check if the pond is open for skating). Break out the donuts for a quick re-fuel before venturing off to howl with the wolves.

Love is in the air this time of year, even for the wolves. Trek along on the Mating and Dating program at the Wolf Conservation Center, an organization dedicated to continued resiliency of wolf populations. Enjoy wine and light bites while learning about critically endangered wolf breeding pairs and take a brief sunset hike to howl with Ambassador wolves, Nikai and Silas.

Complete the day with dinner at Purdy's Farmer and the Fish in North Salem. Set in an 18th century farmhouse and featuring farm-to-table cuisine, the property also has a Farm Shop to take home a selection of breads, cheeses and produce grown on property.
