The Original Rock Palace
The Capitol Theatre

Originally built for Vaudeville, the storied Capitol Theatre has welcomed the likes of Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, David Bowie and Phish. Today, it is Westchester’s premier rock palace and event venue. Guests can take an exclusive backstage tour for a behind the scenes look at the state-of-the-art lighting and historic dressing rooms and green room. Afterwards, enjoy a refreshing Rock Palace Lager at Garcia's, the lobby bar honoring late Grateful Dead guitarist, Jerry Garcia, who called The Capitol Theatre a “pretty groovy” place to play.

Hudson River Museum

Experience a behind-the-scenes curator tour of American art and dynamic exhibitions that range from notable 19th-century paintings to contemporary art installations; step into the Gilded Age while exploring Glenview, an 1877 house on the National Register of Historic Places; or venture to the cosmos in the Planetarium exploring everything from the mysteries of the moon and the search for life beyond Earth, to the stories that shape our stars.

A Chat with Sam Hollander

You may not know Sam Hollander personally but he’s likely made your “HandClap”, along with Fitz and the Tantrums, or given you “High Hopes” with Panic! at the Disco.  As a multi-platinum songwriter and producer, Sam has worked with numerous artists from Carole King and Ringo Starr to Weezer and Katy Perry. In this program, guests will gain an insightful look into the music industry and be inspired by what motivates Sam to persevere and succeed. Enjoy an acoustic performance while discovering how he built his career, the strategies he uses to approach the creative process, and why he believes strongly in the importance of laughter.

Be Inspired by Artistry
Union Church of Pocantico Hills

An unassuming stone country church in the hamlet of Pocantico Hills is the unexpected home of 10 masterful stained-glass windows by celebrated artists Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall. You’ll marvel at the dramatic combination of light and color, art and spirituality. The beautiful rose window was Matisse’s final creation and the nine works by Chagall are his only cycle of church windows in America.

On an exclusive private tour, your guide will bring you to the best spots to take photos of the works as well as the beautiful wooded grounds.

Soul Brewing Company and Second Mouse Cheese Shop

Allen Wallace of Soul Brewing Company, local maker of artisanal ales and lagers, has teamed up with Ivy Ronquillo, proprietor of Second Mouse Cheese Shop, to offer a fun and educational session guiding participants through a tasting and pairing of cheeses and beers. Prefer a more informal event? Participants can lead their own pairings at a relaxed pace with guidance from an information sheet.

A Brewery Tasting and Tour Package is also available featuring an educational tour of the brewing process and ending with a sampling of 5 styles of beer.

Step Back in Time
Lyndhurst

Named one of USA Today’s “Ten Best Historic Home Tours," this Gothic Revival mansion sits on 67 landscaped acres overlooking the Hudson River. Guests marvel at the collections of paintings, furniture, and decorative arts while learning the stories of the mansion's architecture and owners. Embark on a special tour of the house with  a behind-the-scenes look at the tower, the basement (with kitchen and service areas), the back landscape, and the Bowling Alley. Be immersed in the serenity of the lush surroundings and catch a glimpse of nature’s splendor as you view the sunset over the Hudson River.

Open Up New Perspectives
Historic Hudson Valley: Philipsburg Manor

With its pastoral setting, water-powered gristmill, hands-on activities and demonstrations of Colonial life, the Manor opens a window on a forgotten past. This once-thriving farming, milling and trading center tells the often overlooked story of slavery in the Colonial-era North. Learn about those who lived and toiled here, and how cultural heritage and family networks were maintained. During the self-guided tour, meet with docents at the manor house, gristmill and dairy. Try your hand at threshing wheat in the Dutch barn. At the end of your tour, gather in the greenhouse for light refreshments.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery

Delve into cemetery symbolism as you take a daytime or evening lantern light historical walking tour in one of the area’s most famous destinations. Choose from The Original Knickerbocker Tour: Washington Irving & "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" or the Classic Tour to explore the enduring legacy of Washington Irving, beautiful architecture, monuments in the old section and the final resting places of several notable figures.

History with a Bit of Whimsy
Washington Irving's Sunnyside

Follow a gently curving path to gorgeous views of the Hudson River and the charming homestead of Washington Irving, famed for characters like Rip Van Winkle and the Headless Horseman. On this private tour, interpreters in period dress regale you with tales of Washington Irving's storied past and how he came to be America's first internationally famous author. Enjoy special access to the patio overlooking the Hudson River to take spectacular photos. Visitors during the month of May are in for an extra treat when the estate is covered in blooming wisteria, lending to the whimsical feeling.

Get in Touch with Your Wild Side
Wolf Conservation Center

Embark on a unique outdoor adventure at the Wolf Conservation Center, an organization dedicated to the continued resiliency of wolf populations through education programs and advocacy for habitat and species preservation. Visit with Ambassador wolves Nikai and Silas and potentially catch a glimpse of critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. During the tour, discover the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and why it’s a special time for packs in North America. Extend your program with a visit to the campfire area, perfect for networking in a relaxed environment.
