The WPOAF has brought diverse displays of fine arts and crafts to tree-lined Tibbits Park in the heart of bustling downtown White Plains for 55 years! Paintings, photography, ceramics, glasswork, jewelry, textiles, and much more are all on display. The festival is a great place to experience art and shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, and home décor. The event also features emerging artists, the artwork of our scholarship winners, a free children’s art workshop, and unique food vendors.
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.
